Reading entry C12

Hi students.. i have read an article regarding a mother trying to save her son from being punished.the mother was actually hanging at the church bell as the son will be hanged at noon where the priest will ring the bell twice. the moment the priest rang the bell..all of the villagers saw blood coming out from the tower..the mother was climbing the tower and tied herself at the bell so the priest could not perform his duty.. although the son was about to be punished because of his bad deed, his mother still care for her..therefore,we should care for our mother because one day we will be parent and definitely facing the similar situation whereby we must do something to protect our child..and now..i do not want you to comment on my story but you have to tell me what your mother have done to make you happy or feel cherished in 55 words.

  4. The list is endless actually. And I don't think even a single tiny thing she did can be describe
within 55 words only. But just to name a few, my mother (Rohanna bt Rosman) had sacrifice a lot in terms of her own needs just to make sure that her daughters are well raised. She could balance her career and family very well that not even once we felt like been neglected by her. She also knows how to give her unconditional love between her three angels and treat us equally without being unfair. And most of all, my mother is a super great mother in the whole universe and I couldn't be happier to have her in my life..

p/s I LOVE MY MOM SO MUCH..miss her terribly too..;(

  8. Frankly speaking, my mum really did a lot to me. Some of her good deed even until now I also cannot forget. As like kk said, mother is the greatest women in the world. She willing to do anything for us and sacrificed without any complain, just for us to have a happy life. For me, even I know that my mum did a lot of things on me, but my relationship with my mother is poor since when I am a child I do not have much time to stay with my mother (because of some kind of the reason, when I was a child I live with my uncle, not with my family). Thus my relationship with my mother is not as good as my siblings. But I knew that she still love me and I really appreciate what she had done on me.

My mother.. to me,i rather ask myself what i have done for her than what she have done for me.What she have done for me is countless. She done many funny things to make me happy.I would like to share one.She have bought clothes for me without my knowledge. The size was too small for me and the design also did not suit my age. Then I have realised that moment..to them, we are still young and need care and protection from them eventhough we become adult and matured.Every moment they thinking about our condition from far apart.Mother's love is forever!Love your mother, they miss us.Please go and visit them or at least make a call.

  11. What my mother had done to me was priceless. Well, my family is not really a happy family so everything that we done just like “if you want it, try get it by yourself” principle. Since I was entered secondary school until now, everything that related with parent; my mother will handle it. One thing that I cannot forget is when I want to enter this university. My mother willingly to hock her bracelet just to give me some pocket money and to buy some stuffs to come here. But, of course I paid it back.

My mother is my everything.Without her i wouldn't be here.I just got back from home and i miss her already.Last Thursday, the first thing i did was i cried when i saw my mother smiling at me.I hugged her like i haven't seen her in ages.I can see that she misses me too...Im very close to my mother.I talked to her about everything. An she is a good listener and an excellent advisor.Mother's choice is the best choice!I totally agree to that saying...I just can't imagine my life without my mother. She is the coolest mum i would say.She quit her job just to take care of the family.Since that,i've never been hungry anymore. She cooks all the time and she is a great cook!I saw the difference of my father's body size before and after my mother quit her job...You know what i mean. She calls me everyday asking about my lunch and dinner. She gets crazy whenever i tell her im sick. She will call me every hour just to know about my condition.I think it would take thousands of years for me to write about my wonderful mum...Oh well.In conclusion,im very proud to be the daughter of my mother,a great woman,a great and an irreplaceable mother...

  17. To Sarah Schapira's colleagues it's become a running joke. Every half hour or so the pretty 22-year-old PR gets up from her desk and makes a dash for the ladies.
But she isn't suffering from an embarrassing medical condition, the reason for her regular absences is hardly a mystery - every day she downs seven litres of water.
"My argument has always been that water is good for you and helps you to detox," she explains.
"We've all been told about the benefits of water, so I drink lots and lots of it, from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed."
"If I don't have my bottle of water I feel paranoid,' she says. "And if I try not to drink for an hour, I start to feel dehydrated and I get throbbing headaches.
"But it has got to the stage where I don't know how to give it up. It used to make me feel really good and healthy but not anymore. I know I ought to cut down but I'm not sure how I can."

Based on the symptoms, Sarah is none other than; an "aquaholic". We've been told that healthy lifestyle includes the eight-glasses-water per day and this rule is in fact really helpful and is proven good for our health. The more, the better. However, the excessive consumption of water can lead to a condition known as hyponatraemia, which consequently lead to complications such as convulsions, coma and even DEATH. How tragic isn’t it..?
The popular belief that was practiced unconditionally by most of the people who really concern about their health is indeed a 'lethal weapon'. There are so many shocking and unexpected facts on aquaholics and the drinking habits that we could never possibly imagine. To feed your curiosity, do visit this website and be surprised by the truth..!

  20. A mother is the truest friend i have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon me; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with me in my sunshine desert me; when trouble thickens around me, still will she cling to me, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to my hearts.
I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine - she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights.

  21. If you suffer from food allergies, take heart. It’s a blessing in disguise. Following are three reasons to count your lucky stars that you suffer from food allergies. Turn that frown upside down and rejoice..:)

    1. Family Cooking Sessions - One of the best things about suffering from food allergies is that it forces you to cook at home a lot more than others. Especially if it is genetic whereby more than one family member may suffer from it.

    2. Family Dinner - After had the cooking sessions, then there will be a natural progression of sitting down at the table together to enjoy the meal. The whole family can spend some quality time together without the kids being pressured to spend time with their parents. Conversations tend to flow naturally and thus will strengthen the bond between family members.

    3. Family Savings - By eating together as a family, you are actually saving money at the same time. This is because instead of everyone eating what they want, when they want, you shop for and prepare one family meal at a time. Plus, it is easier and less expensive to prepare delicious meals at home compared to dining out.

Suffering from food allergies can really be a blessing in disguise. Like any challenge presented in life – it’s simply a matter of perspective; of how you choose to view it.

  23. How to keep the magic in your relationship...

    1. Decide that you are going to have happy relationship. Anything that you ever do will begins with a thought. Visualize yourself and your partner in a happy and healthy relationship.

    2. Handle conflict in a loving way. Every couple has disagreements. The way you handle them will help determine the success of your relationship. Don't insist on being right. Instead, focus on understanding your partner's point of view and be a good listener. This will help keep your partner from becoming defensive and he or she will appreciate being heard.

    3. Be responsible for your own happiness. Understand that it's not your partner's job to make you happy. In the early stages of your relationship, your partner may feel flattered to know that you depend on him or her for fulfillment, but after a while, they will feel drained and suffocated. True happiness comes from within. Be your own source of happiness and that will make your relationship much sweeter.

    4. Don't be consumed by jealousy. This can do serious damage to a relationship. The poet Maya Angelou once said that jealousy is like salt. In small amounts, it can add spice to a relationship but too much is unhealthy.

    5. Don't take your partner for granted. Remind yourself why you fell in love with this person in the first place. Focus on your partner's positive attributes and remember that no one is perfect.

  24. Im pretty sure that everyone has undergo this situation in life.Having a broken heart. It hurts a lot that made you decided its the end of the world fo you. No!You must not do that. There are solutions to every problem in this world..These are few tips on how to mend a broken heart:

    1. Become aware of what you are telling yourself.

Believe it or not, our houghts are habits that we've created along the way. For instance, there's the "guilt" set of thoughts, the "worry" set of thoughts, the "fear" set of thoughts, the "I'm always going to be alone" set of thoughts, the "nothing's wrong" set of thoughts or the "sunny outlook" set of thoughts--you get the idea.

    2. Once you have become aware of your thoughts, decide the thoughts that make you feel better, easier about your situation and those that don't. Take a legal pad or notebook and at the top of the page, make 2 columns with these headings: "Feel better" and "Feel Worse."

    4. Chose a thought that is better.

Taking our example, this thought is probably not going to be that you are completely joyful, are with your perfect partner, or feel completely satisfied with your current situation. It may be that a better thought is that when a thought comes up about how alone you are, you change that thought to "I can call Bonnie or Carol and either talk with them or arrange to go to dinner or a movie."

    5. Practice in each moment and break your habit.

Have you ever broken a habit? It takes being aware of what you are doing and then making a change in the moment. Your thought pattern is a habit and can be changed--but you have to believe the thought that you are changing to--and you have to practice it.

  28. A mother's work is never done. Every mother tells her children that honesty is the best policy and not to lie.My mother is the most important person in my life. The problem is, I cannot really express how I feel about her in just words. My mother is not my whole life, but she is a really big part of it. My whole world does not only revolve around her, but she is the most influential person who inspires me. My mother is not just another woman. She is extraordinary.

  29. Picking the right outfit for an occasion is usually a person's first consideration and this step alone can prove to be difficult.

The first consideration you should take into account is what type of event you are going to. Evening events usually require different formal clothing than daytime events, and some events such as a "black tie" affair require the most formal type of clothing while others such as a cocktail party have more relaxed standards. For the most formal type of events, tuxedos are appropriate for men and gowns and longer elegant dresses are appropriate for women. Formal clothing for a cock tail party or more relaxed formal event can include a suit for men and a shorter dress or cocktail dress for women.
After you have determined what type of attire is expected at your formal event, you should then take into account your body shape and type.
Just because you are required to dress formally does not mean that you have to give up comfort. Nothing can ruin a wonderful night like being stuck in tight itchy formal clothing.

One last consideration when shopping for formal clothing is the accessories, and for ladies, hairstyle that you are planning to wear. Men should try to match their accessories such as watches, cufflinks, and ties to the clothing they purchase, or vise versa, and women should consider their purse, shoes, jewelry, and hairstyle when buying formal clothing.

    www.girlarticles.com

In my opinion, clothing is very important to make good impression on us. We have to look for suitable cloth for us according to the event, time and many more...

  30. I found this interesting website called dreammoods.com which is a free one-stop dream portal that let us explore and discover meaning to our dreams. One of the common dreams is test/exam dreams which I had dream few days back. According to this site, the dream that I’m taking an exam indicates that I’m being put to the test or being scrutinized in some way. Such dreams highlight my feelings of being anxious and agitated. And in the same dream, I was late for the exam and could not complete the exam in the allowed time which then contributes to the factor of failing the test. This dream usually has to do with self-esteem and confidence or my lack of. I am worried that I’m not making the grade and measuring up to other people's expectations of myself. I may also experience the fear of not being accepted, not being prepared, or not being good enough. I feel nervous, insecure and tend to believe the worst about myself. Surprisingly, almost the entire of interpretations are true and did reflect me in a way. This website did help in making sense of one’s dreams and achieves better understanding of the dreams.

  32. How to Be a Good Mother

1.Be patient. Being a mother is a little challenging sometimes, especially if you have a daughter. But keep your cool and try to stay patient. Your daughter snuck into your room and put on your makeup? Explain to her the practical reasons why she shouldn't do this, such as hygiene, clogging pores, etc. Then tell her why you don't like her doing it- she'll muck up her skin at this young age, this is your makeup, etc. Try this approach to other problems. Stay calm, explain the practical reasons not to do something, and then why YOU don't want them to do something.

2.Take an interest in your child's interests. If your son likes cars, maybe buy him a model car he can make. Ask questions, like what is your favorite type of car, which model is that car, etc. If your daughter is interested in animals, buy her something like a magazine for animals, and tell her some interesting sites and books she can look at. Ask her what her favorite animal is, info about animals, etc. Make an effort.

3.Don't be tight about money. Okay, so blowing money day after day isn't the best thing to do, but don't automatically say no to everything your kid asks for. If you always say no and follow this with a lecture about saving money, you will be known as the "Tight Parent", the one who never buys anything. Buy something small every now and then. Even offering to purchase some candy or chips at the petrol station can make a difference. Every now and then buy something big that you are sure your kid wants. For example, an iPod, or a bike. And be generous at birthdays. This can include taking a special day to go out to dinner, see a movie, and choose a nice gift or receive nice gifts from parents.

4.Make sure you are an approachable person to talk to. Try your hardest to always be understanding and a good listener. Knowing that they can go to their mom for friendship advice, information on sex and puberty, homework help, or just a hug goes a long way for kids. Not having someone they can talk to can cause kids to retire into a shell, so make sure you talk to them about how they feel regularly.

5.Be supportive, and never laugh at your kids hobbies, interests or friends. So, your son doesn't want to study medicine and become a doctor? Don't get angry, this is your child's life and they can make some of their own decisions. Understand that it's okay if your child thinks differently from you. Don't get mad because they have a different opinion to you, or your son wants to become an engineer and not a doctor. Don't laugh at them, or their friends. Who cares if you daughter listens to heavy metal music and wears too much eyeliner? She's still your daughter. And so what if your son is friends with a guy who speaks in a funny accent or who has a different skin color? You might not do what your kids do, but that is their decision, not yours. You have a big impact on their lives already-you choose what school they go to, when they eat dinner, the amount of pocket money they get for doing chores. Don't over do it.

6.Be able to admit that something you did may have been wrong and don't be afraid to apologize. It might be hard, but it's better for everyone if you just admit to your mistakes and apologize. It saves everyone the trouble of being mad that you're being stubborn and teaches your kids that it's okay to make mistakes, as well as the importance of an apology. Simply calm yourself, evaluate the situation, determine what you did wrong and why. Then apologize and explain how or why you acted the way you did. A good way to start off may be: "I would like to apologize for how I acted earlier, and I realize that I was wrong," then transition into the rest.

7.Give your children a lot of love.

In a family, mother is a second important person and being a mother have a little challenging because at home father almost time not a home and the family many thing is mother control it such as take care about children study, live and so on. Bisedes that, mother also need to do many housework. So to be a mother is really not easy.

  33. The five minute makeup routine

When an impromptu night out demands a beauty fix with little to no time, follow these instructions for looking glam when the clock has you hurried. With only five minutes to spare, use these five steps and five products to go from day-time dud to night-time vixen.

What you'll need: foundation, moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and sparkly lip gloss.

Step One: Splash your face with cool water to rinse off any dirt and grease that accumulated throughout the day. The cool water will also refresh your skin and mind after working all day.

Step Two: Sprinkle some of your foundation into your face moisturizer and mix. This will create a tinted moisturizer, which will give you some color and moisturize your face at the same time. Doing this instead of applying one right after the other will make it feel less weighted and it will prevent you from putting too much foundation on. This will help the foundation distribute more evenly too.

Step Three: Apply eyeliner on the top lid by pulling the lid taught from the outside corner of the eye. Starting from the inner corner of the eye, sweep your eyeliner along the top of the lash line. Then, lightly move your finger over the line to barely smudge it. This will give you a sultry look rather than just a plain lining of the eye.

Step Four: Apply mascara to the top lash line, then close your eye and softly pinch the top and bottom lashes with your thumb and forefinger, gently pulling toward the tip of the lashes. This will flatten and pull out clumps and get mascara on the bottom lashes without overload. You will have to wash your fingers after this.

Step Five: You can double the use of your sparkly lip gloss by using it as eye shadow too. Apply the gloss to your lips with your finger and sweep the left over amount on your lids. The tint from the lip gloss will add color, while the glitter will give eyes a subtle shine. The texture of the gloss will also give eyes a dewy look.

If hair is flat and dull, create a side part and throw it into a loose, messy side bun below the earlobe opposite the part. You can even get more creative and add a French braid beginning at your side part and down the hairline to the messy bun. Another idea is to add instant volume and flirt to your strands by flipping your hair upside down and massaging the roots. If you have hairspray nearby, spritz the roots. Flip your hair back over and brush through with your fingertips.

  35. FATHER AND DAUGHTER COMMUNICATION

When a girl enters young adulthood, she begins to develop unique bonds with each parent. A maturing young woman will endure many physical and emotional changes and a father may find it difficult to successfully maintain a good relationship with his daugher through this whirlwind of change. Keeping the lines of communication is crucial to achieving this success and will ensure that your bond with eachother stays solid through the years to come.

Don't Place Unrealistic Expectations on Each Other

Sometimes we tend to do this to the people in our lives and it certainly isn't uncommon to be seen in a father-daughter relationship.

An example of this can be a father or daughter who feels the other doesn't talk to them enough, leading them to question their worth to the less talkative one. Both father and daughter may feel justified in demanding certain expectations from one another but one thing that needs to be understood is we cannot expect to change eachother. Chances are, if the father or daughter was never a regular chatter box, it can't be expected that they can or will feel comfortable with turning into one now.

Instead of expecting an unrealistic and drastic change from one another, you can tell your father or daughter how much you appreciate their compliments and enjoy their conversations. When you approach them with kindness instead of criticism they are more likely to make an effort to initiate a conversation every once and again. Don't expect miracles, but appreciate and acknowledge the effort that's made.

    Respect One Another's Boundaries.

From child to teen to adult, boundaries set between father and daughter will change and almost certainly be tested on both sides. Fathers, who begin setting strict boundaries for their little girls as a means to guide them in their early years may have a hard time loosening those boundaries for their teen daughter and ultimately relinquishing control when she becomes an adult. It could be equally as difficult for the daughter to abide by and adjust to their new boundaries at the different stages in her life.

This is okay, as long as both father and daughter acknowledge the difficulty and handle it in a non critical or negative manner that could cause a fissure in their relationship. It might help to tell one another when you are having a difficult time and explain why.

    Find Common Ground.

From make up to manicures, it can be difficult for a father to find common ground to share with his maturing daughter. Finding something in common such as a mutual love of comedy films can let you spend some enjoyable quality time together.

    Appreciate the Differences.

Showing interest in parts of your father's or daughter's life that you don't know much about is an excellent way to open the lines of communication. When dad is watching a football game, ask who he's routing for or any other question that gives him a chance to talk about something he enjoys.

When your daughter breaks out the sketch pad, ask her what she's drawing and what artists she admires. You can take it a step further by taking her to a museum and letting her tell you about the different pieces and why she likes them.

Giving one another the oppurtunity to express what interests them lets the other person know that even if you don't understand everything about them, you respect their interests and want to learn a little about what's important to them.

The relationship between a father and daughter is a unique and special bond that can be strengthened and maintained over the years with a little respect, quality time, and steady communication.

  36. Lipstick Ingredients

Most of the lipsticks we use everyday contain petroleum by products like mineral oil, synthetic chemicals, dyes and fragrances. In some cases we really don't know exactly what is in our lipsticks. The "trade secret loophole" allows skin care manufacturers to use a generic term like fragrance and not say what that means. (see nontoxic skin care)

Lipsticks can be made quite simply. There are three main ingredients, wax, oil and coloring. Of course most lipsticks are made with many others, these are the essentials.

Natural lipstick usually contain beeswax or plant wax like carnauba or candellila, which give it body, oils like jojoba, sunflower or chamomile for spread ability and pigments or coloring.

Pigments can be organic or natural herbs(turmeric), vegetables (beets), insect (carmine or cochineal, a pigment from crushed beetles) or mineral based (titanium dioxide or iron oxide). FDA approved colors like D&C Red or FD&C Yellow, though approved are not usually used.

  38. I've read about;
    Queen Elizabeth II

Helen Mirren may have scooped an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen, head of state of Britain and 15 Commonwealth countries, but it is Elizabeth Windsor who continues to define the role. It was thrust upon her in 1952 by the premature death of her father, and she has not left the stage since. Yet unlike the celebrities and politicians with whom she regularly exchanges pleasantries, the most famous woman in the world has never given an interview.

That reserve was interpreted as indifference in the turbulent months after Princess Diana died, when Britons contemplated burying their monarchy. A decade later the institution is solid, thanks largely to Elizabeth's steady hand. At 81, Her Majesty is still cutting ribbons, laying wreaths, greeting dignitaries and making speeches in a voice that has resisted the temptation to seek acceptance through reinvention. That's the secret of the Queen's success: she understands the need for reforms, such as slimming the costs of her family to the taxpayer and opening her accounts to public scrutiny, but she has never compromised her identity. However, like her beloved corgis and dorgis (a dachshund cross), she occasionally slips the leash, says her second son, Prince Andrew. Once, on a walk, she encountered one of her subjects, who exclaimed, "You look just like the Queen!" "How very reassuring," Her Majesty replied. Many Britons feel the same way.

  39. How to Choose a Dress Shirt

1.Choose a color. Are you buying a dress shirt for a job interview, or are you looking to dress up more fashionably?
For an interview, the traditional choices are conservative colors. A light blue is usually the safest. White is very formal. Grays are also generally safe.
If you are looking to portray a more lively image, choose bright, unconventional colors. Bright greens and oranges are relatively popular, as well as pink.
2.Choose a pattern. Solid colors are considered wardrobe staples because they are easiest to match, but you might consider choosing stripes or a plaid pattern.
Solid shirts are beneficial in that you can wear virtually any tie with them [solid or patterned].
Patterned shirts are a bit more difficult to match with ties.
3.Choose a style. Are you looking for a more trendy, tapered-cut shirt, or would you prefer to stick with a standard, full-cut shirt? Do you want a standard collar, or a spread collar? Will your collar be buttoned down, or will you use collar stays? Each of these are points to consider.
A tailored-fit, or slim-fit dress shirt is slightly tighter around the chest and sides. A standard-fit dress shirt has a slightly baggy, but traditional "full-cut" appearance. Finally, athletic cut shirts have a full chest but are tapered at the waist.

Dress shirts with standard collars.A standard straight collar is the most common type of collar, where the collar edges point downward and there is little space between the section where the collar meets.

A spread collar dress shirt.A spread collar is a bit more modern and is considered by some to be "youthful" and "effeminate". It is smaller, and has a wider spread, as is illustrated in the image. Since a spread collar gives a wider appearance, it is a good choice for men with slim builds, and perhaps less so for stockier types.
4.Determine your neck size and sleeve length. If you are shopping at a retailer, most salespeople can help you find your neck size and sleeve length by using measuring tape. The chart below displays a guideline for common neck sizes and approximate sleeve lengths, determined by normal shirt size.
5.Complete with a suitable tie. You will want to choose a tie that matches the rest of your outfit. The color of your tie should closely complement with your shirt, whether in the "background" of the tie, or inside of a subtle pattern on the tie.
Striped ties are classic and conservative. Solid ties are generally more formal.

  41. How to Be a Good Daughter
    Steps:
1.Look for what you might be doing that your parents do not like. Make a list. Likewise, identify what you are doing well. You'll want to keep on doing those good things, or do them even better.
2.Try and fix the problematic things. For example, if you don't show your parents enough love, make the effort every morning to give both of your parents a hug and tell them that you love them.
3.Spend time with your parents. Get close to them and be yourself around them. For example: Go to the mall and shop with them now and again, or ask your mom to go have a coffee with you at the nearest cafe.
4.Listen when your parents have something to say.
5.Do your best at school, in sports, or other endeavors, to give them opportunities to be proud parents.
6.Talk with your parents about things that concern you about your relationship - things that may be their fault as well as yours. Stay calm. The last thing you want is to have a fight. When both parties have decided what to solve, tell them you love them. Give them a hug and say goodbye. Then take a walk or something so your mom/dad will think about what he/she has just agreed upon.
7.Enjoy the simple things with your parents. Watch their favorite TV show together, eat dinner together, watch movies, play board games. Don't let them feel like their little girl is pulling away.

  43. Two Secrets to a Better Future

Take a look around you and ask yourself if this is the quality of life you were hoping for. If you answered “No”, then my question to you is “why not?” “What are you doing to change your life?” Most people who have been asked what they’ve done to change their lives say it’s no use because”...” and so it goes as an excuse.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. The first step in getting out of the rut is to stop making excuses and assume responsibility for the quality of your life. You can change your life situation today. How do I know? I know because others have done it. There will always be obstacles, but none that can’t be overcome. The only requirement is the desire to change.
The second step to getting out of the rut is step out in faith and, as the Nike commercial says, “Just do it”. There is no time like the present to change course. You might not succeed the first time, but you must keep trying. Success will come with persistence. Remember the old saying: Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Don’t worry about making a mistake. Albert Einstein once said: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. So step out. Take a chance.

  45. The number of things that my mother has done to me is uncountable. I could not remember all but one thing for sure, I will always remember and cherish the love that she gives to me and my family. Furthermore, everything she does is the happiest thing to me. This is because when a mother is still willing to do things for her children means that she still cares but when she does not, it means that she has given up hope on her chilren. Therefore, cherish before it is too late.

  46. RISK

The pleasure of risk is in the control needed to ride it with assurance so that what appears dangerous to the outsider is, to the participants, simply a matter of intelligence, skill, intuition, coordination - in a word, experience. Climbing, in particular, is a paradoxically intellectual pastime, but with this difference: you have to think with your body. Every move has to be worked out in terms of effort, balance and consequences. It is like playing chess with your body. If I make a mistake, the consequences are immediate, obvious, embarassing and possibly painful.

For a brief period, you are directly responsible for your actions. In that beautiful, silent world of the mountains, it seems it is worth a little risk.(New York Times Magazine)

  49. How to Treat Split Ends

Split end happens when the protective cuticle is stripped away from the ends of hair fibres and are more likely to develop in dry or brittle hair. Among the typical causes of damage include excessive dying or vigorous brushing. Once the hair cuticle is removed, it is impossible to replace.

The best treatment is to cut off the split end of the damaged fibre. Take small sections of hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion. The split ends will automatically stick out. Carefully snip into the twist with a sharp pair of scissors. Don't cut right through; just cut into the thickness to remove the damaged cuticles and give your hair a natural layered effect. Be careful to cut roughly the same amount from each twist.(Watson)

  50. How to care for coloured hair?

I am sure at this age a lot of us have tried dying our hair. So, let us see how we can maintain the colour much longer and add healthy shine and vatality to our hair.

SHAMPOO YOUR HAIR LESS FREQUENTLY, and when you do, use shampoo that is meant for colour treated hair. Such shampoos do not strip away the natural moisture from your hair and help to keep the colour soft and fresh.

RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH COOL--NEVER HOT--WATER to close the cuticle (the outside layer of your hair) and encourage staying power.

WET YOUR HAIR BEFORE YOU SWIM to prevent it from absorbing too much chlorine or salt water, which can cause a lot of damage to your coloured hair.

SEE YOUR STYLIST REGULARLY, and always follow his/her advice when it comes to preserving the vibrancy of your hair colour.(Watsons)

  51. COMPUTER TALK IN 1987

The language of Bolivia's Aymare people, who live high in the South American Andes , is strangely suitable for talking to computers. Experts have struggled for years to find improved ways of using computers to assist in multilingual translations. Bolivan-born industrial engineer Ivan Guzman has discovered that Ayramas use a logical syntactic structure that is easily adaptable to computer programs.

Normal human speech is too whimsical and filled with ambiguities and hard-to-translate idioms to be handled by computers. The Aymara tongue, however, is compact and orderly and so well-conceived. Therefore, experts translated the language into a series of formulas in the first step toward a multilingual translation system. (Daily Mail, London)

  52. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF FLU?

Upper respiratory discomforts such as a runny or stuffy nose and sneezing only sometimes accompany the flu. Whereas the sore throat that occurs with a cold typically disappears in a day or two, the throat soreness from flu is likely to get worse by the second or third day. Also, the muscle aches that accompany flu are usually much more severe than with other fever including ailments. The lower respiratory tract is a common site of attack , too, resulting in dry, hacking cough that can become severe.

Sometimes the digestive tract also takes a beating from vomiting and diarrhoea, especially in children. When flu hits below the belt, it can be a challenge to keep down anything more nourishing than tea and water. But this symptom of influenza is not to be confused with a stomach virus, which isn't any kind of flu at all and is not accompanied by the fever, aches, pain and severe malaise that characterize flu. 54. Quit from Smoking
So I am a little stress bunny, wrapped in stress, dipped in a stress sauce and then fried in stress, with a creamy, melty stress center. And the ways I have been coping with the various sources of stress in my life are the following: eating a lot; eating a lot of candy; drinking all the wine; lying in bed and letting the sorrow fill me all the way up to the top until it leaks out my eyes and then I have to eat some more to replenish my reserves of sorrow; being very, very angry about very, very small things; loading up my Amazon shopping cart with everything in the world, and then checking out, and then, in a panic, canceling my order (one day that is going to completely bite me in the ass and I will, in fact, own the entirety of She-Ra on DVD); eating a lot; eating a lot of candy.

What I haven't done, I just realized this afternoon in a flash of something close to astonishment, is smoke. I have not even thought about picking up a pack. I have not even considered bumming one from someone. I have remained, somehow, miraculously smoke-free.

And in the middle of all my woes and sorrows and tragedies and hangnails, I have hated myself for that list above, because none of it makes me a happy person, or a happy person to be around--all of it just compounds and builds up and spills over into a bigger mess that is harder to clean up. But listen--I haven't smoked. I have not started smoking again. That's a sliver of light, a shining bright edge around the mean dark clouds. It is one of the first things to make me feel as close to damn fine as I have in days or weeks. It is a victory! I do not fail entirely! I will take all the victories I can get. And candy.

This is an article from a blogger. The author teach us how to staying quit from smoking.

  55. Getting your best body can be as simple as counting to five every day. Really! No matter what goal you’re pursuing—shedding those 10 pounds that have been hanging around too long, toning your trouble zones or simply eating healthier. It's so easy. I think of it as my five-star day. The five-star day is so simple—you just give yourself a star for everything you do right. You get stars for:

Sleep! Try to catch 7 to 9 hours each night. This, I know from personal experience, can seem like an unrealistic goal, but the amount of research that supports the connection between shut-eye and health makes me shoot for this star every day. For starters, catching enough zzz’s can help you lose weight. In a study of more than 68,000 women, those who dozed seven hours a night weighed 5.5 pounds less than women who slept five hours or less. Ample sleep encourages your body to make more of the fullness hormone leptin and less of the hunger hormone ghrelin, so you’re not as hungry. Snoozing can also curb anxiety and depression, both of which can lead to emotional eating. As if that’s not enough reason, too little rest can cloud moral judgment, too. Try going to bed just 30 minutes earlier each night to see how much you’ll benefit.

Exercise! Yes, breaking a sweat can help you lose weight, but it can also curb cravings, help you live longer, reduce stress, undo some of the damage of eating fatty foods—and those are just a few of the benefits. Aim for 30 minutes a day—even a walk counts toward your tally—and give yourself a star each time you fulfill that goal with any one of your favorite workouts.

Eat right! No, you don’t have to count calories. You can eat healthy and have delicious, filling and satisfying meals (snacks, too!). If you’re doing the 2009 SELF Challenge, give yourself a star for every day that you eat according to the Challenge meal plan and log your meals in your online food diary. If you’re not doing the Challenge, you can still snag a star when you’ve eaten in a way that makes your body feel good—and you feel proud. For me, that’s when I opt for yogurt with berries rather than a muffin at breakfast, have a salad with tofu for lunch and choose salmon over steak at dinner, then skip the ice cream pig-out late at night. Yes, it’s that simple! I’m not perfect, and there are definitely days when I have a second glass of wine or a too-generous square of my favorite dark chocolate bar, but I find that once I start building that five-star day, I get invested in it and want to keep it up.

Stretch! Limbering up is a way to thank your muscles for all the hard work they do for you each day. It can also help you increase your overall range of motion, making exercise seem less difficult. And when workouts are less daunting, you’ll not only enjoy them more, but you also will probably do them more often, too! To me, yoga and pilates count, as does just stretching at the kitchen counter as I watch the headlines in the morning. No need to set aside a huge block of time! However you choose to go Gumby, give yourself a star for treating your body to a break.

Talk yourself up! This might be the most important part of the five-star plan: Giving yourself a well-deserved pat on the back for simply being strong, smart and healthy. Even on days when you only notch one or two other stars, take a moment to give yourself credit for being a truly amazing human being. Talking yourself up carries over to other areas of your life: Not only will you feel more confident, but research shows you will also get sick about 30 percent less frequently, stave off emotional eating and reduce your cancer risk. There are plenty of other reasons to celebrate your body. Pretty impressive for a few pats on the back!

Create your own five-star days: When you join the Challenge, you can use our free online logs to track the stars you earn each day. Counting stars is motivating, and rewarding yourself for smart, healthy behavior is more inspiring than the negative mind-sets required by most "diets." I had to create a system in my own head that was simple, easy to track and optimistic. The best part is that you get to start fresh every day, so even if you only manage one or two stars one day, you can stay with it by going to sleep early and telling yourself, like Scarlett O’Hara, tomorrow is another day!

In my opinion, we must keep our body healthy. The ways that talk above is useful for us.
